Village Show

The date for the village show has been set for Saturday, 30th August.  A new class will be introduced for the 2008 Show for the best exhibit by an exhibitor who has not previously won a trophy.  This will hopefully encourage villagers who may not have entered in past to give the show a try!

Also, following some anomalies which arose at the 2007 Show the committee has made an amendment to the rules governing the awarding of trophies.

In the past, if an exhibitor gained most points in more than one section he or she could only be awarded a trophy for one section, the trophy in the other section being awarded to the exhibitor who gained the next highest number of points.

With effect from the 2008 Show this rule will no longer apply, and an exhibitor will be awarded a trophy if he or she has gained the highest number of points in a section, regardless of the fact that he or she may also have won another section.

Similarly, the Walter Perry Cup for best Exhibit in the Show, and the Somerfield Cup for the Oddest Vegetable may be awarded in addition to any section trophy, if the exhibitor also gained the highest number of marks in the section.
